Umm

I'm too far behind to possibly construct entire sentences

*Colts Win, Oh yeah!

*Cookies, cookies, cookies

*Pinewood Derby time-if you don't know what that is, be glad

*Basketball, basketball, basketball

*Stomach flu-in children you hoped could have made it to the bathroom but didn't

*Boots develop holes in time for flip flops to appear in stores, this will also correspond to the first actual snow fall of the season

*Worst news-E will be having surgery for scoliosis. We'll time it for June so she doesn't miss school, but it does mean we won't be vacationing, sigh

*Go check out Bread in the Oven and say congrats!

Plagued

The youngest three kids spent Wed-Sat with the plague. Ok, maybe it was the flu. Whatever it was it was a pain in the neck. Luckily they all had no school Friday for end of semester. I would have thought they would make that today, since it's a holiday, but nope, today they are at school. I was most worried about F. He is rather like a human superball who never stops moving. He also eats like a person who has the metabolism of a chipmunk. Thursday he slept 18 hours and ate nothing. I couldn't even tempt him with ice cream. Glad that's over.

Adding to the weekends fun, the computer at dh's work blew up so he worked extra on Friday and Saturday trying to get caught back up. E's debate team hosted a meet this weekend. I was in charge of the judges room. I called all the parents, and delivered the two crockpots of soup I promised. I didn't stick around to see if the other parents brought what they promised or not. The soup I took was all gone, either indicating I make wicked good soup, or there was nothing else to eat.

Girl Scout cookie time has started. Yippee. Not. At least they pretty much sell themselves, I just hate delivering them and dealing with all the money. Money and cookies are not noted for remaining untouched in this household.

The 15th Day of Christmas

Ok, I know, but I never posted about 12th night. We had presents, festivities and instead of king cake we had M&M cookies made only with the green, red and yellow ones. The others were of course eaten.

We've watched lots of football.

Basketball started last night and swimming starts tonight. Could I just let them all become shrubs instead? Now time for my complaint-where are all the other children? When I was a kid I just wandered around and there were kids in town to play with. We go to the park often, really often, and the library, and just around. There are no kids. Weird!

It is finally beginning to feel like January. I was adjusting to the warm weather without problem darn it, and now reality rears it's ugly head. 18 tonight. Yuck!

Strange Name Choice

Snuggling with a sick F today, he said out of the blue "I'd like to have another brother." Oh say I, why is that? "Because I want to name him Knute Limburger" Umm, NO! Where did that come from?

New Year's News

Yes, it's going to be a list post because I'm so far behind. Hey, I've been busy, ok?

* I managed to do all the things I promised the kids we would do, shopping (both clothes and video games), homemade cinnamon rolls, out to eat at Ponderosa (that involves a 30 mile drive each way), homemade cinnamon rolls and lots and lots of cards and board games

* Dh and I went to friends' house for New Year's Eve. I drifted off during a movie (shhh, I don't think anyone noticed). I revived in time to see the ball drop and Dick Clark. Good Lord, someone have the guts to tell the man it's time to quit performing.

* The kids went back to school on Jan 2 so I spent yesterday de-Christmasing the house. I always seem to get everything pur up and see one item I've left out. I crammed it in a drawer. Take that you organized types.

* I've been doing a bunch of batch cooking for the freezer. Starting next week we have something to do every, yes EVERY night of the week. Since this town has no restaurants and I don't want to live on pjb that means preparing ahead. My freezer is now packed with soups, mac&cheese casseoles, taco meat and the dreaded meatloaves. This will hopefully enable us to eat something.

* What are we doing you ask? What type of family can't budget their time, lets see
Mon-Basketball practice for 3 kids for 3 hours-must leave house at 5:30
Tues-Boy Scouts-must leave house at 6
Wed-KidKlub at church 6:30, Dance 20 miles away at 7:00
Thurs-Cub Scouts-6:15 (I'm a den leader, have to be there)
Fri-dd must play with band at ball games (20 miles away again)
Sat-dd usually needs delivered and picked up from debate, 3 basketball games, various times
Sun-church, youth group and Brownies from 4-6 (stupid time, 12 miles away)
DS begins swim practice the 8th. He needs picked up at 5:30 or he'll have to walk home. He'll practice 5 nights/week. Oh, and then there will be meets. I don't think I'll make too many of those. Dh works evenings so, it's all me. Did I mention I'm actually looking forward to them getting driver's licenses. I may change my mind on that one of course.
